Quality of Life and Open Space in Washoe County
KEEP WASHOE WILD! Get involved in the Public Open Space Plan for Washoe County
The final planning meeting for the Open Space document was held January 23, 2008. But there is clearly
much more to do to make sure that the plan is implemented effectively. As more information becomes available from the county,
and more ways for you to be involved in this year-long process become available, we will post them here.
The Sierra Club and its partners welcome your interest in open-space planning in Washoe County.
More growth is inevitable. Intelligent growth is not. Make your voice heard. Here are some ways:
- Send your email address to our
Coordinator to receive our email newsletter.
- Take a TOUR of one of the
places we are focusing on.
- Familiarize yourself with the Open Space Plan,
available online. Follow the
links to the open space planning document, maps, and supporting documents.
- County residents should write, call or email their own
and the other county commissioners (see sidebar for link), thank them for funding the plan, and share your thoughts and concerns.
- City residents should email, write or call their mayors
and city councils (see sidebar for link). Urge them to take action to implement the plan in their jurisdictions.
- Attend the county, city and regional meetings when they
are announced. You can check back here or ask to be put on our email newsletter list by emailing the
Coordinator
